Every Student Counts Survey Closes November 30

On November 12, York Region District School Board invited all students to participate in the Every Student Counts Survey (ESCS). Thank you to all of the families who have completed the survey so far. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

This is a friendly reminder for families with child(ren) in Kindergarten to Grade 6 to please complete the online survey at home with your child by November 30.  Earlier this month, you should have received a school letter with a link to the online survey. Families with more than one child in Kindergarten to Grade 6 were asked to complete one survey per child.

The online survey is available in English, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Farsi, Gujarati, Hebrew, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Tamil, Urdu and Vietnamese.

If you have misplaced your letter, please contact the school office.  If you have already completed the survey, please disregard this message.

The ESCS is voluntary and confidential. Survey results will be used to help improve our schools and to:

● Identify and eliminate systemic barriers to student success;
● Create more equitable and inclusive school environments; and,
● Improve student achievement and well-being.

A summary of the results (grouped data only) will be available at schools and on the Board’s website in Spring 2019.

If you have any questions about the survey, please feel free to contact me. Additional information about the survey (i.e., FAQs and survey questions), is available at www.yrdsb.ca/escs.

This important initiative will help us work together to create equitable and inclusive school environments. Parents and guardians are our strongest partners in education and we thank you for your support.

Traffic on Robinson Street

York Regional Police have increased their presence on Robinson Street in the mornings in order to remind drivers to adhere to the road signs and remind pedestrians crossing Robinson and Galsworthy to use safe crossing locations.

The North side of Robinson Street is a no parking zone. YRP has explained that it could be used as a kiss and ride location, but drivers should not park and exit their vehicles during morning drop off.

Our parking lots are not available for student drop off or pick up.

If it is necessary to park and exit your vehicle, use a neighbouring side street with allowable parking and walk the short distance to school.

Be vigilant when driving near our school in the mornings. Many of our walking students cross the street and it is everyone's responsibility to make sure our little Ravens get to school safely.

Healthy Snack Program Volunteers Needed

JAMES ROBINSON VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT FOR
THE HEALTHY SNACK PROGRAM

All of our volunteers are essential for the continued success of our students and our school

The Healthy Snack Program is intended to create an opportunity for students to try a variety of nutritious and diverse snacks in order to enhance their nutritional well-being.

The Healthy Snack Program is a program sponsored by the York Region Food for Learning, which is a community partnership that supports student nutrition.  Evidence suggests that having such programs within a school can improve children’s school performance, memory and test grades as well as enhance their physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development.

For the time being, the program will run on Tuesdays until we are able to build our team of volunteers.

A little or a lot- we’d love what you’ve got!!

Come join our team and help encourage healthy eating for our students!

If you would like to volunteer for Healthy Snack, please contact our main office at james.robinson.ps@yrdsb.ca . Leave your name, contact number and indicate how often you would be available:
